ONE week and TWO carepackages down!

The ship has already been gone for a week! I already had stuff piling up for a carepackage before they even left though! So the boys and I decided it was time to send a package since it takes a few weeks to get to them anyway. After we started the first one Blake (our 5 year old) thought we should make cookies too. So we ended up making TWO packages!

We love decorating the boxes, its always been one of our favorite things while daddy is gone. THIS is the kind of thing you will end up with when a 2 and 5 year old decorate, Daddy always LOVES them!

Here is Blake, My little baker! He LOVES cooking! These ones were Chocolate Chip and Mini M&M "NIMITZ cookies" (he named them)

After I got everything out that i've bought I realized, I had a lot more than I first thought!

Heres a list of some of the things I put in this carepackage:
Homemade Jerky!
New Razor and Replacements
Shampoo and Body Soap Mix (easier to bring one bottle than multiple)
After Shave Cream
Shave Cream
Toothbrush & Toothpaste
Floss Picks (he loves these!)
Floss
Baby Powder (come on what man doesn't use it?)
Baby Wipes (i get these from the dollar store)
Portable Table Tennis
Rock-em-sock-em robots (that you put on your fingers- they need fun stuff too!)
Pistachios
KIND bars
TONS of individual drink mixes
Socks
(and I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the things)

This is how I pack a lot of my things- You can fit more into a box if its flat instead of inside a box. Also, he can store this easier than multiple tiny boxes.

and now they are off! Ready to be sent to Daddy!

Kitty Beds for Shelters

My mom recently adopted a cat. He's scared from being attacked by two pitbulls at his previous home (one had him by the head and the other by the rear and they broke his jaw and hip). I wanted to make him a nice bed that made him feel safe and comfortable so I searched all over and finally found a bed that made sense!
You know when you go check out the kitties at the shelter and they are all laying in the cat litter boxes? Its because they feel safe from the higher walls, so this pattern is the same size, with higher walls.

He ended up loving his bed so I have decided to make more for the local pet shelters in the area. They use quite a bit of yarn (almost all of 3 skeins!) But I have a TON of yarn in my stash that I will probably never use for anything. What better way then to make some cute kitties feel all safe and snuggly?

The pattern is completely free (and so is ravelry) but since it is copywrited i can't just copy and past it on my own page. So Heres The Link:

And lastly here is my final products (I'm working on #3 right now)
I always seem to change the pattern a little bit so thats why they look different, not sure which one I like more.

My first post!

The awkward first post! Ohhh where do I start? I'm a 27 year old Navy Wife. My husband is a Chief in the United States Navy and we're going through our second deployment as a family. (his 7th!)  We have two boys; our inquisitive book reader, Blake (5) and our little daredevil and ladies man, Xander (2).

So why am I starting a blog?? Actually I'm not quite sure of that myself. I've had multiple friends tell me I should start blogging so I figured, why not? Lets do this! I have multiple hobbies, I love to cook, craft, do projects with my boys. I'm trying to stick to a 'clean eating' diet so I'm trying a lot of new recipes. I just try to stay as busy as I can to make the deployments go by faster. Guess we'll add blogging onto my never-ending list of 'staying busy activities'!
